On December 18, 2020 Alfonso J. Garcia passed away in Tracy at the age of 69. His burial was on December 28 in a private ceremony. Alfonso was born in Santa Clara, Cuba to Arturo and America Garcia. Before stablishing in Tracy, Alfonso lived in Guayaquil, Ecuador and Miami, Florida. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1970, attended Delta College in Stockton and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Fresno State University, class of 1976. He worked in the city of Berkely for Berkely Pumps as Bill of Materials Clerk and also for Bayer Biotech as Drafting Coordinator. In the city of Walnut Creek, he joined WRMS Engineering as Document Control Coordinator. His last job was for Noble Logistics as Independent Contractor in Hayward. On September 1992, he married the love of his live, Melva. Alfonso had a zest for life, he enjoyed music and dancing (he was a very good salsa dancer); he also loved bicycling, watching football season (specially his favorite team, the 49rs) and other sports like basketball, baseball and tennis. He was interested in history, he liked going to museums and visit Peru (his wife’s native country), where he traveled in several occasions. He had a collection of model cars and one of vinyl records from the 70’s and 80’s. He loved to host family gatherings on Thanksgiving and Christmas. He enjoyed good food and a glass of red wine. Alfonso was a devoted son, brother and husband. He was a man of faith who lived his life trying to be good man. He was a cool guy as we would say, trait that made him to be liked by classmates, co-workers and friends. During his long illness Alfonso demonstrated strength and patience. He loved his pets specially his dog Lance and cat Fulanito. Alfonso was preceded in death by his young sister Daisy, his parents Arturo and America and his grandparents Lino and Engracia Valdivia. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Melva, cousins, nieces and nephews in USA and Cuba. Alfonso’s wife would like to extend her eternal gratitude to the team of Drs who took care of Alfonso leaded by Dr. Aibar Huatuco and Dr. Ian Pulliam; to Sutter Tracy Memorial Hospital, Satellite Dialysis Center of Tracy and the Hospice of San Joaquin.
