Anselmo M. Mendoza, Sr., 88, passed away on May 9, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 15, 1930 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Leonor Mercado and Maximiano Mendoza. Anselmo leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Maria Dolores Soto Mendoza; four sons, Gustavo (Cinthia) Mendoza, Anselmo Mendoza, Jr., Jaime (Penny) Mendoza, and Daniel (Stephanie) Mendoza; and daughter, Leonor (Ernesto) Mendoza-Diaz. Anselmo was blessed to have 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way. In addition to his parents, Anselmo was preceded in death by his son, Maximiano Mendoza. Anselmo came to the US as a bracero, allowing him the opportunity to achieve his lifelong goal of becoming a legal citizen. His decision for attaining citizenship was not only for him, but for his entire family. He was a loving, generous and humble man. His strong work ethic was second to none! He was a fine skilled landscape designer. He enjoyed playing his accordion and would showcase his musical talent to his family. He was also an avid classic car collector. He enjoyed the hunt for the next classic car acquisition. He loved his family very much; he was proud and enjoyed sharing with others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to support his loved one’s ideas and goals. His generosity spanned over to his tenants, friends and to those he did not know well; no written contract was ever needed as he believed that your word was your bond. He will surely be missed by all, but his memory will always live on. He is forever in our hearts and his legacy will stay with us forever.
