Beverly “Jeanie” Lashmett King Karas, 89, passed away peacefully in December 2019 surrounded by her family. Jeanie was born in July of 1930 in Ord, Nebraska. Her family moved to Twentynine Palms, California in 1947 and later moved to Long Beach, California. In 1974 Jeanie and Joe moved to Tracy, California. Jeanie was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph “Joe” Karas, her son Alan King, her sister Joan Lake and her parents Leroy and Wrayma Lashmett Jeanie is survived by her son David King and his wife Sue, and her Daughter-In-Law Dianna King. She is also survived by three grandchildren Jessica (Tim) Murray, Mike (Camille) King, Sarah (Alvaro) DeSousa. She had 6 great-grandchildren Sophie Murray, Diego and Mila Grace King, and Isabella, Eliana, and Anthony DeSousa. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Jeanie was a loving mother and homemaker, a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. For many years leading up to her passing, she collected a large assortment of artifacts and antiques from around the world. She loved to use her collection of antique dinnerware, artfully placed, for both special occasions and simple get togethers with friends. Always with a party flavor! Jeanie was always willing to lend a hand. Over the years, she volunteered at numerous local support agencies, but her favorite was always the Tracy Historical Museum. Her son Alan, his wife Dianne and her niece Colleen Lindsay lovingly cared for her in the last years of her life. The family gives them their greatest and warmest thanks and gratitude. Her end of life was far sweeter with their help and love. Jeanie’s family is deeply saddened by her passing and she will be greatly missed. Jeanie requested a small private gravesite service for the immediate family. Keeping with her love for festive gatherings of family and friends we will be celebrating her life on Saturday, February 1, 2020 with a Memorial Lunch to be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Tracy, CA. The luncheon will start at 1:00 pm. Please join us and share your memories and stories of Jeanie with her family and friends. Please feel free to wear your favorite party attire.
