Otis Dale Loomis

Otis Dale Loomis passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019, in Tracy, California, at the age of 87. Otis was born on February 29, 1932, to William Charles and Bessie Loomis in Galena, Missouri. He was the fifth of nine children. After graduating from Marysville Union High School in 1951, Otis enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he served for eight years until his honorable discharge. He married Laverne Dorse in 1956, and after living in Santa Clara for a couple of years, they moved to Tracy to raise their family. They were married for 59 years until her death in 2015. Otis worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Site 300 from 1958 to 1988. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed a full life and will be remembered and missed by all who loved him. Otis is survived a son Roger Loomis (Cathy) of Denver, Colorado, and a daughter, Debra Bahr (Scott) of Livermore; grandchildren Shannon, Jenny, Nathan and Megan; four great-grandchildren; two sisters Eva Cameron (Reid) of Panama City, Florida; and Lola Nichols (Larry) of Esparto, California. His wife, one great-granddaughter, two sisters, four brothers, and parents all predeceased Otis. Otis will be laid to rest with military honors, Monday, January 6, 2020, 12:00 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California 95620. Tracy Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
